Why I made the change
I'm married with two daughters and family means everything to me. I had spent over 30 years in large scale construction as a commercial electrician and towards the end of my career the whole situation was wearing very thin.
Something I once enjoyed had now become a source of frustration and resentment. Constantly working long hours had become all consuming, not only was it mentally and physically exhausting, it left me feeling completely depleted so when I finally did get home, my family saw someone who was always tired and withdrawn. It's not what I wanted, but I just didn't have the energy to be the type of husband and father I should have been, I had nothing left to give because my job had taken it all out of me.
And even though I earned a decent salary, what was the point if I never got to enjoy it with my family? They never complained but they deserved a lot better, we all did!
I knew things had to change but I didn't quite know how until the solution literally dropped into my lap (in the form of an ad on my lap-top!)
